Jo's healthful homemade granola bars

Whole grain, low in processed sugar, and easy to make. Freeze them or pack in lunch. Kid-approved.

2-½  cups rolled oats
1  cup whole wheat flour
¼  cup brown sugar
½  tsp cinnamon
½  tsp salt
¼  tsp baking soda
¼  cup agave syrup
½  cup vegetable oil
¼  cup honey
1-½  tsp vanilla
1 cup mini chocolate chips

Combine all dry ingredients till well-blended. Add the wet ingredients and combine till moistened. Pour into a 9x13" well-greased baking pan that has been lined with foil, also well-greased. Use the bottom of a glass to press-down firmly and evenly. Bake in a 350º oven for 20-30 minutes until the edges look lightly browned and center is firm. Pull-out by the foil lining and rest on wire rack. Cut into bars when cool. (Can also add dried cranberries, sliced almonds, and shredded coconut.)
